Those were the days when caning boys good and proper were the norm as in the above scene. The caning would have been more effective if the teacher had ordered the boy to stick his backside right out thereby making his shorts stretch tightly.This way the boy would have really felt the full impact of the six strokes.

He should have been told to bend further down so that his shorts are stretched tightly.
